About Gotlands Museum
Gotland Museum makes the art, history, natural heritage and cultural heritage of Gotland accessible to islanders and visitors from around the world. The museum was founded in 1875 by the Friends of the Historical Museum, led by Pehr Arvid Säve. Today it comprises the Historical Museum, Gotland Art Museum, the ruins of Visby and the museum farms Norrbys, Kattlunds and Petes.
The museum also has a public archive and library, the Svahnström Room, collections at Magasin Visborg and a department for archaeology and building conservation. Fornsalens förlag publishes literature on the subjects covered by the museum, always with a connection to Gotland.
